Mechanic

Mechanic is a player-owned business, not a one-off payout job. Own or get hired at a repair shop, then fix, service, mod, tune, dyno-test and nitrous-boost other players' cars — and charge for every job. There's no timer and no fixed wage: you earn when customers roll in, and the money banks into the shop's fund.

Overview

• Type: Legal service business (own the shop, or work for an owner)
• Where: 5 mechanic shops across the map (wrench blip 🔧)
• Payout: Variable — customer labour fees (~$500 a mod job) + part margins (up to tens of $k on engine/tuning work). Everything goes into the shop fund.
• Risk: None — fully legal

Requirements

• Get hired by an owner, or own a shop — and go on duty.
• No level and no EXP — you rank up in the business (Mechanic → Manager → Owner), not by XP.
• Open your tools with the tablet item, or just use the command /mechtablet.
• You must be within 4 metres of a car to connect it to the tablet.

How to Start

1. Get hired at a shop by an owner/manager (or buy/own one yourself).
2. Go on duty from the tablet.
3. Stock up on parts at the shop's two counters (see below) so you can actually do jobs.
4. When a customer brings a car to a work bay, open /mechtablet, stand next to the car and connect it — then pick the service.

Step-by-Step

1. Clock on duty via the tablet.
2. Buy the parts you'll need from Servicing Supplies and Advanced Upgrades (or grab them from the shop's Parts Bin).
3. Customer parks in a work bay; connect the car with /mechtablet (stand within 4m).
4. Pick the service — Servicing, Mods, Tuning, Dyno or Nitrous.
5. Pass the quick skill checks to install the part (3 attempts, easy).
6. Invoice the customer, or fulfil the Work Order they placed — the money lands in the shop fund.

Parts & Prices

You buy parts wholesale from two NPC counters at every shop, install them, and bill the customer. Cheapest is engine_oil at $50; the big earners are the engines and tuning parts.

How You Get Paid

• Labour fees — mod jobs auto-charge a flat fee (about $500 each).
• Part margins — you charge the customer more than the wholesale part cost; big tuning jobs (engine swaps, drivetrains) carry the fattest margins.
• Work Orders & Invoices — a customer can place an order and pay upfront, or you send them an invoice to pay by bank/cash.

All of it banks into the shop fund, which the owner and managers withdraw from the tablet.

Tips & Common Mistakes

• Stock parts before a customer arrives — you can't finish a job you don't have the part for.
• Stand within 4m of the car or the tablet won't connect it.
• Tuning is where the money is — engine swaps and drivetrains earn far more than a basic service, so learn those jobs early.
• Use the dyno as an upsell — show the customer their before/after HP to justify the bill.
• duct_tape is only a temp fix — a properly dead engine still needs a full repair_kit.
