Vending Machine Robbery
Written from the live server data for this feature — locations, recipes and prices are read straight from the robbery setup, not estimated.
Vending Machine Robbery is a step up from parking meters — a bit more cash, and a chance at a free drink. The catch is the heat: every single vending machine you crack open calls the police. It is a fast crime you do and immediately walk away from.
Overview
- Type: Street robbery (world prop, no mission)
- Level required: none
- Where: Any vending machine on the map — no GPS, you find them yourself
- Payout: A small amount of black money (dirty), sometimes a drink, often nothing
- Risk: High for the money — dispatch is alerted every time
Requirements
You need one of these two tools. Either works.
| Item | Spawn code | Where to get | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lockpick | lockpick |
General/hardware shop | Used from your inventory |
| Crowbar | weapon_crowbar |
Weapon/tool shop | Must be equipped in your hand |
- Lockpick: about 10 seconds. Crowbar: about 8 seconds.
- Unlike parking meters, the crowbar does not add extra police risk here — the police are called either way, so take the faster option.
How to Start
No menu, no job. Carry a lockpick (or hold a crowbar), walk up to any vending machine, and use the target / third-eye button on it.
📍 Locations
- Start: any vending machine in the world — soda machines, water machines, snack machines, coffee machines and office fridges all count. They sit outside shops, in hospital and police lobbies, gyms, and office buildings across the map. No GPS marker.
- Sell: none. The reward is handed straight to you. Launder it at Money Wash before you spend it.
Step-by-Step
- Get a tool. Buy a
lockpick, or equip aweapon_crowbar. - Find a vending machine and aim the target button at it.
- Pick your method — Lockpick (needs the item) or Break Open (needs the crowbar in hand).
- Beat the minigame. A fail locks the machine and you get nothing.
- Wait out the progress bar — about 8–10 seconds — then take whatever it rolled.
- Leave immediately. The police were called the moment you started.
- Move on. That machine is on a 30-minute cooldown.
What You Get & Where to Sell It
Nothing to sell — the reward is handed to you on the spot.
| Item | Spawn code | What it's for | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Black Money | black_money |
Dirty cash — launder it before spending | About $50 per successful hit |
| Water | water |
Drink it — restores thirst | A consolation prize, no resale value |
| (nothing) | — | — | A fair share of machines are empty |
How much money total? Around $20 per machine on average once you count the misses. Take the dirty cash to Money Wash to make it spendable.
💰 Cost vs Reward
| Amount | |
|---|---|
| Investment (one-time) | A lockpick or a weapon_crowbar — cheap shop tools |
| Cost per run | ~$0 — the tool is not consumed |
| Reward per machine | $50 black money when it pays, ~$20 averaged |
| Break-even | A few machines |
| After that | Profit, but the police risk is the real price |
Tips & Common Mistakes
- Pick machines away from police stations and busy streets. Dispatch is called every time.
- Use the crowbar here. It is faster and costs you nothing extra in heat.
- Never chain two machines in the same spot. The second alert lands while units are already rolling.
- Machines inside hospitals and police lobbies are a trap — easy to reach, terrible place to be caught.
- Don't grind these for money. Parking Meters pay less but keep you out of the system; the illegal menu jobs pay far more per minute.
FAQ
Do vending machines always call the police?
Yes. Every attempt alerts dispatch, whether you use a lockpick or a crowbar, and whether or not you actually find anything. Plan your exit before you start.
How much does a vending machine pay?
About $50 in black money when it pays out. Counting the empty ones, expect roughly
$20 per machine on average, plus the occasional bottle of water.
Lockpick or crowbar for vending machines?
Crowbar. It is about two seconds faster and — unlike parking meters — it does not increase the police risk, because the alert already fires every time.
How long before I can rob the same machine again?
30 minutes for that exact machine, whether you succeeded or failed the minigame. Any other machine is fair game right away.
Is the water reward worth anything?
Not really. It is a drink you can consume — treat it as a consolation prize, not income.
